Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pact?
Pact is a screen time app that puts real friction between you and the apps that eat your day. You choose which apps to restrict, then limit them with a daily budget of unlocks, a recurring schedule, a daily time limit, or all three at once.
Why does Pact need Screen Time access?
Blocking and shielding apps on iOS is only possible through Apple's Screen Time API, so Pact asks for that permission during setup. Your Screen Time data is handled by iOS on your device — Pact reads what it needs to enforce your limits and nothing more.
What is Hard Mode?
Hard Mode turns off early unlocks. Normally you can end a session before the timer runs out; with Hard Mode on you can't, so the limit you set while thinking clearly is the limit that holds later. You can also require typing a randomly generated code before your restricted apps can be changed at all.
What is the difference between session limits and app limits?
A session limit controls how many times you can open an app each day and how long each opening lasts. An app limit is a total daily time budget for that app. Schedules are different again — they block apps automatically during recurring windows like a morning routine or bedtime.
Does my data leave my phone?
Your restrictions, schedules and usage stats are stored on your device. Pact uses RevenueCat to process subscriptions, which handles purchase and device information as described in our Privacy Policy. There is no analytics SDK in the app.
Can I use Pact for free?
Yes. Pact is free to download and use. Premium unlocks unlimited restricted apps, schedules, app limits and Hard Mode. You can also earn free Premium time by inviting friends.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. You can cancel at any time through your device's subscription settings. You'll keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period.
